Programs and projects
CCF-Belarus programs address core causes of children failing to prosper - poverty, child abuse and neglect, family crisis, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS, disability, and Chernobyl issues. They prioritize wide use of innovations, development-oriented approach, and community mobilization through empowerment of key community groups (parents, youth, specialists).
Currently, CCF-Belarus is implementing projects in the following programmatic areas:
Social integration of institutionalized children
To improve psycho-social environment and enhance social competence of institutionalized children, CCF-Belarus facilitates professional development of specialists and conducts life skills, health education and vocational training for children. Working closely with communities, CCF builds effective local capacities.
Strengthening technical, organizational, and networking capacity of Belarusian NGOs to enable them to deliver sustainable and effective HIV/AIDS services.
Children with Disabilities
In its work of supporting children with disabilities CCF-Belarus involves stakeholders and at-large community members in mobilization of community resources to support families with disabled children and promote the importance of the family model in child care. CCF-Belarus projects are child-centered, developmentally orientated and based on the individual needs assessment of each particular child with disabilities.
Based on its 10 years' experience of helping various groups of disadvantaged children, CCF-Belarus provides a wide spectrum of services for children with disabilities, including: day-care and respite services, volunteer-led activities, social interactive theater, integrated youth video studios and integrated playgroups, parenting skills enhancement programs and parents' self-help groups facilitation.
Parenting Skills Education
CCF Belarus educates parents by providing training on building good parenting practices. The program creates a framework of discipline and respect in the family by establishing clear, sound parenting guidelines and non-violent conflict resolution, which are important tools for creating healthy environments for children. Parents take classes on reproductive health, child abuse prevention and parenting skills.
Parents participating in the trainings are also assisted in forming parents' associations which focus on children's issues and developing community based solutions.
Youth Mobilization and Empowerment
CCF Belarus works with public schools on programs focused on developing the ability of children to create social change. Specific activities for children include life-skills education programs, social interactive theater and youth volunteer activities.
CCF is empowering children to design and implement their own programs to help other children in institutions, hospitals, prisons and those with disabilities. This peer-to-peer method helps enhance the social and leadership skills of children.
Early Childhood Development
CCF provides services for children under age 5 through local Early Childhood Development centers. Children participate in development activities and take advantage of the safe, nurturing educational environment.
